Smuggler's Notch Resort

We went for Thanksgiving week. It snowed, but the snow school wasn't opened, however we sledded and snowboarded (we brought our gear) for free. They had a fun zone on-site for the kids to do balloon bouncing, huge slides and mazes, along with all kinds of games to keep all ages busy. It had two pools, one outside and heated at 82ºF, and one inside with a slide. The restaurants weren't that great. However, we went to Smuggs Inn for Thanksgiving (we had a car accident on-site-so the staff drove us to dinner and the convenience store. They were great). The two bedroom we stayed in was one of the largest places we ever stayed. The second bedroom had two twin beds and one full sized, and two closets.

We stayed in the condos off the main campus. The master bedroom was large, had a great view, a large bathroom, and a tub with jets. The balcony afforded us a beautiful view. The kids loved playing hide and seek, as the unit was so large. They even give you a locker to keep your ski gear, and have ski camps for the kids so mom and dad can relax. Also, the place is very remote, with no cab service or shuttle service. We had a car accident and would have had to pay $75 to get to the rental car picked up, so we stayed on-site until the car was fixed and the staff accommodated us. The Hillside Collision Garage was gracious in driving me to pick up groceries and with great service. Even with the accident this was the best Thanksgiving we ever had, the people in Vermont were helpful and wonderful.

A roomy dining and living area had a comfortable appeal. The stream outside provided splendid morning walks.

As a fall destination, this is a winner, with everything from grape stomping to a little climbing at the Notch. Soaring over Stowe is an unforgettable experience as well.

The accommodations were really nice. The timeshare was a good size for the six of us. The master bedroom had a Jacuzzi and TV, which the kids loved!. The second bedroom had a king-size bed, plus a bunk bed. The kids slept on the bunk bed and then sometimes on the pullout couch. The kitchen was a good size, and the dinning table was a good size. The living area was big enough that we weren't falling over each other all the time. The only thing that was a problem was that although the timeshare was supposed to be air-conditioned, the bedrooms had A/C units, but the living area did not. Some days we were there were quiet warm, and an A/C would have been nice.

Best Things Nearby:
Several activities surround this area. Nature: hiking, fishing, canoeing, biking, swimming. Shopping: several antiquing and shopping places. Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Factory and the Vermont Teddy Bear Factory are within 15-30 minutes' drive.

Best Things About the Resort:
The rooms are fabulous. The scenery boasts wonderful colors and sunsets.

Resort Experience:
The resort is primarily a ski resort. However, it does a great job with other activities as well. We stayed during fall foliage, which was great. It was quiet, and the scenery was magnificent. My husband and I had a lock-off unit (three bedrooms). The unit was huge - a shame we didn't have anyone to share it with! This is a great layout for a family. The unit was quite clean, great space, with TVs in all rooms (including the master bath), a Jacuzzi in the master bath, and a huge dining table (suitable for 8 people). Overall, it had the best rooms I have seen in any resort that we have been in yet. This is a super layout for a family. There are activities offered all year round. The resort even offers bus trips throughout the area, Canada, fishing, and canoeing. This resort is definitely a true GOLD CROWN RESORT!
