Skagway Bungalows

Skagway Bungalows

This is the perfect alternative to Skagway's "Gold Rush era" (Victorian decor with a small room) hotels and those of the motel and hostel persuasion. Skagway is very quiet after dark. Moe's Bar or the Fish Company appeared to be the only happening places in town. The Red Onion was very quiet.

Consider renting a car and a cabin. Skagway Bungalows is a great place to curl up and reread passages from Jack London's "The Call of the Wild" and find yourself in the middle of it all only a mile or so from Skagway. From reading the guest register, it is very common to see the northern lights on cool clear nights. The friendly resident dog, a beautiful husky, stands guard when you spend time on the 16 foot wooden deck. Nan Saldi and her husband provide two very nice log cabins with a view across the Skagway River gorge to Reid's Falls. Extras include a plentiful supply of coffee and teas. You’re only a couple miles from the Sweet Tooth for and it's excellent breakfast. $99 per night.

Just down the hill Cindy's Place also has cabins. Over in Dyea, The Chilkoot Outpost has a very handsome collection of cabins and stunning scenery with breakfast included. (This one is 10-12 miles from Skagway on Dyea Road.)
