This is a very good hostel and the Staff are not only very friendly but are really helpful. I stay here on the night before my wedding as well and another five of my wedding guests and nobody who stayed here had anything but praise for the place.

The place is a wonderful patchwork quilt of colours and which creates a friendly and easy atmosphere. You can also find lots of examples of Peter the Potters wonderful work around the place.

Ok,I didnt really mind all the stairs. What I did mind was the attitude of the hostel manager. I arrived after a several hour bus journey from Prague, had a terrible headache and he acted like I was drunk. He blamed any mess in the kictchen on whoever was in there at the time. Late at night if you came up the stairs you had to step like a mouse practically or he would come from his flat on the floor below the hostel and give you a scolding. It was paranoid with him around.

The Greatest Hostel in Czech. The Australian couple that own this place rock. You will feel at home, with a kitchen and a great living room with mismatched furniture and colorful walls. Greg has info about anything you would want to do, and has a great passion for his adopted city. Sit inside, cook food, and talk or try the treasure hunt of sights and objects in the city.

Up lots of stairs, so if you have bad knees be warned. I counted but forgot the exact number of stairs...somewhere around 90. It is on the fourth floor, but is well worth the climb.

The rooms are clean and spacious. Around 300kc per person a night, or 400kc for a private room per person.

Two showers that can be hot, warm, or just plan cold depending on who has showered before you, and if the on demand hot water heater is on.

Two very clean WCs.

Tons of books, both travel and fiction, as well as a Czech music collection that is well worth exploring.

Poets Corner

Poets Corner is a very friendly, homely hostel situated right in the centre of Olomouc or pron. Ollamoats. On arrival Tom & Carmen who were temporarily looking after the hostel made me feel most welcome and provided me with a very useful map and gave me invaluable recommendations on where to eat, drink and visit. The hostel is decorated with art and also great posters with language tips. (Great one on the toilet door!. I had the blue room with a lovely angel painted on the walls.)

The hostel has a communal kitchen with free tea and coffee, bathroom and toilet. You can ask to use the washing machine for a small fee. There are 4-6 beds in a dorm-250 kc per dorm bed, 750kc for a twin private room or 950kc for a triple private room. There is no curfew and no lockout but guests are asked to be quiet when entering the building.

The hostel is 3 minutes walk to the main square and there are supermarkets close by for provisions and Internet cafes (60kc per hour). I know that in the summer there are some excellent day trips you can make to Helfstyn Castle, Sternberk Castle, Javoricko Caves and Kromeriz town. Other people at the hostel were also snowboarding at a local resort.

When I stayed most of the guests made an Indian feast and talked long into the night... oh you may meet Sandy and Butch the resident Polar bear and Orangutan... don't worry they are models.. but bring hours of fun nevertheless!

At the train station: head for the farthest left of the glass doors, buy a 6kc public transport ticket from the yellow machine (and one for your backpack), take tram 4, 5, 6, or 7 to the right.
Get off at Namesti (narodnich) Hrdinu, 5-7 stops.
Walk away from the Red Church towards the red dome.
The hostel is to the right of the UMBRO shop at Sokolska(St) No 1.
Ring the Poets Corner doorbell and they will let you in.

Enjoy!!!!
