Expensive modern minimalist foyer, which doubles as the entrance to a chic night club. The room itself was small, not to say cramped, down 3 flights of stairs from the lobby, and still on the fourth floor above ground level at the back. As I said before, Baguio is seriously hilly. If you can’t hump your backpack up 3 flights of stairs without assistance, you shouldn’t stay here. The room had a bed and satellite TV, with usual generous Filipino choice of select channels in all languages and from all countries, but very little else. No fan, but Baguio is high enough up in the hills that it isn’t strictly necessary. It would have been nice to leave the window open, but my room was over a truck loading area, with welding and panel beating from early in the morning. Add in the usual Filipino quota of competitive cock-crowing, over-excitable guard dogs, and the odd neighbourly quarrel, and it couldn’t really be described as quiet.

450 peso a night ($8) for single room, shared shower with variable warm water, no breakfast, but you do get a free newspaper each morning.
