Residence Mont-Calme

Well-appointed apartments in the centre of town. We really enjoyed the sauna facilities. Two people can comfortably lie in the sauna. There's a booking sheet on the sauna door, and each apartment can book up to an hour's sauna use. Booking is only allowed up to 24 hours beforehand. There was no overbooking because we were there during a quieter time of year. They're very private apartments, which means you're likely not to meet anyone unless you spend some time at the restaurant/bar downstairs at the pizzeria, which seems to have average prices for the area. We really enjoyed the calm.

Best Things Nearby:
Siviez and Verbier are good for skiing.

Best Things About the Resort:
We had a spacious, clean, and modern apartment. We had quiet surroundings, except for the Saturday night we arrived, when some merrymakers decided to make some noise in the street below - we are, after all, in the town centre and so close to everything. Everything is so convenient. Migros supermarket is a short walk away, with an unexpectedly good supply of fresh vegetables, including fresh hot chilies and Thai/Oriental produce. There's also a reasonably priced Thai "shack" restaurant/takeaway en route to Migros. For alcohol, walk in the opposite direction to the Pam discount supermarket. We had a very attentive staff from Inter-Agence.

Resort Experience:
We had apartment F1 on the first floor. It was an apartment with an en-suite bathroom and a separate shower room. We thought it was a very comfortable apartment with ample cupboard space. It would benefit from having a clothes rack for our ski gear. It was nice to have a fireplace, even though we weren't going to find any wood to light it. The apartment was wonderfully warm - we were in T-shirts and sandals! The balcony was a nice touch, too, but of course, we're in the town, so the view isn't exactly breathtaking. There is a restaurant/pizzeria on the ground floor: breakfast is 13-16 SFr, pizzas 13-21 SFr, starters 6-27 SFr, fondue 40 SFr pp, and main courses 22-45 SFr. It was nice to have a microwave (which also doubled as a grill) and a full-size dishwasher, though more lidded Pyrex dishes would've been useful for the microwave. There is a 40 franc utility charge, which we assume must go towards Inter-Agence management, sauna use, the Villeroy Bosch crockery, ample coffee filter paper, dishwasher tablets and dishwashing liquid, the welcome basket, etc. We looked forward to returning to our cosy apartment every afternoon.
