A year before school violence put Erfurt on the map, we visited, and stayed in the Hostelling International hostel. It is easily accessible via Straßenbahn (streetcar) from the center of town.
This is a clean, nice hostel, in which we had a double and triple room, although very basic. It was also, in early July, overrun with a middle school age youth group.
