dakar savanah hotel

When i first arrived, i had booked into this high-end hotel (four stars), which was lovely (yet expensive by local standards) and boasted all the luxury amenities like olympic swimming pool, tennis court and private beach. The resort-like setting also offered its own fishing dock from which one can watch the local fisherman sail in in droves from a hard day's work. The hotel also provided currency exchange and fully-stocked mini-bar, which came in very handy as my flight arrived quite late in the evening, and I had not had time to stop off to buy bottled water, which is a must for any western traveler in this part of the world. Also, the staff here were very friendly and knowledgeable (one of the gentlemen at the front desk even took me aside to explain to me that it was not necessarily a good idea for me to wander alone down the corniche with my camera displayed so prominently), although I did not challenge their english-speaking skills as I was able to converse with them in French, so I cannot comment on how that would have played out.
