The Chequers is a 13th century pub, set in the small village of Smarden. The accommodation is great - the rooms are fairly small (blame those Tudors for that!), but the whole place oozes character. The Inn is famous for its curved weatherboarding, set as it is on the corner of The Street.
If you are looking for a lovely place to stay, in a beautiful setting, look no further than this.
A single room (Bed and Breakfast) is £40.00, a double or twin room is £65.00. The pub has five rooms, (1 single), and 3 have their own bathrooms. Meals are available every day, from 12:0am to 2:30pm, and 6pm to 9pm, and the food is very good and not expensive.
