The Pines Inn is a very basic but comfortable bed and breakfast in the town of Killarney. Located on the main street facing the channel, this large red brick house is a very imposing site. The house was built in the 1850's to house the nuns from the adjacent Catholic church. The rooms are small but clean. The night that we stayed was very hot and humid, and without air conditioning the room was a bit uncomfortable. The fan helped but...
The hosts Adele and Paul Malcew are very hospitable and accommodating without being intrusive. The tea room serves lunch and breakfast daily. The breakfast was hearty and home cooked, although we could have chosen fruit and yogurt instead of eggs, bacon, and home fries. There is a very large deck on the front of the house which is a very lovely spot to have your meal or just your coffee.
Paul is a fishing guide and excursions can be arranged on his 28' boat. In the winter they also have snowmobiles for rent. For us this was the perfect location to start our canoe trip in Killarney Park. The town of Killarney is located only minutes from the park.
The Pines supplied exactly what we were looking for - affordable, clean accommodation, and a hearty breakfast half an hour from our "put in" at the park. The perfect start to what turned out to be a perfect trip.
