In Casas Grandes we have stayed several times at The Hacienda Hotel. It is quite pleasant and has a nice pool. Rooms are clean and spacious and the restaurant has always been good. You can contact the hotel from the United States by calling Casas Grandes. Just dial 011-52-169-3-10-46. This is the direct number for the hotel. Take time to visit the downtown area of Casas Grandes. You will be surprised by the number of shoe stores and bakeries. If you venture into a bakery, take a few minutes to observe the "proper" procedure. Take a tray from the stack and a pair of tongs and make your way through the bakery while picking up the items you want. I find Mexican pastry tasty, though not as sweet as I am used to. A must see are the ruins of Paquime from which Casas Grandes derived its name. Casas Grandes means "large houses" which were prevelent at Paquime Ruins. A museum on site will orient you in Paquime history and layout.
