Presidential Resort at Chancellorsville

  • April 20, 2005
  • Rated 4 of 5 by Sandylu from Hartford, Connecticut
Best Things Nearby:
Lots of historical places to visit, as well as lots of stores, malls, and restaurants within driving distance

Best Things About the Resort:
The accommodations, the pools, the lake, and the people

Resort Experience:
The kids were busy with something to do every day. They loved the pool the best - it was where all the kids were every afternoon. They enjoyed going fishing in the morning and late afternoon. We barbecued every evening for dinner and took a family walk around the place afterwards.

Best Things Nearby:
Paramount Kings Dominion Amusement/Water Park is two great parks for the price of one (40 minutes from the resort). 1863 battlefields. Close to Washington DC.

Best Things About the Resort:
The cabins are really cozy but large with a front/back porch and grill/full kitchen and are fairly new looking. It’s really close to Paramount Kings Dominion, which is a fun amusement park with lots of rides and a great water park for a reasonable price. There are free/reasonably priced on-site activities, three pools (one indoor), an open gym and a small beach, and really cheap fishing/boating rental.

Resort Experience:
Well, it's a camping resort. It's not plush, but it's a large cozy cabin with whirlpool, full kitchen (try and get one by the lake). It has on-site fun activities like fishing/boating indoor/out pools, putt putt golf course that is reasonable in price and it's close to Paramount Kings Dominion, battlefields, and Washington DC, as well as nice restaurants and shopping places nearby. Also good for winter/fall rental as Kings Dominion is open in October for Halloween. And the activities center is open and you can still boat/fish on the lake or use the indoor pool.

Absolutely wonderful. A two-story log cabin secluded in the woods. A wonderful getaway with a beautiful lake nearby. Great accommodations to keep the kids entertained.

Best Things Nearby:
Civil War battlefields are the main attraction in this area. However, you are with an hours drive of Monticello, (Jefferson's Home), Williamsburg, and Washington, DC.

Best Things About the Resort:
The units are individual cabins which give a great deal of privacy. They are most comfortable and nicely decorated. My cabin had a picture of General Robert E. Lee meeting with General Stonewall Jackson just prior to the Battle of Chancellorsville.

Resort Experience:
The cabins give great privacy, but there are social opportunities as well. They have an enclosed, heated swimming pool, a gymnasium and an exercise room, tennis courts, and a small grocery store on the premises.

Best Things Nearby:
Each unit is a cabin with a porch overlooking a lake. It's very quiet and serene. A great place to get away and relax.

Best Things About the Resort:
Besides the lakefront porch, there's a nice fireplace and satelite TV!

Resort Experience:
In the summertime (between Memorial Day and Labor Day) there are plenty of activities for the families. Fishing, boating, horseshoes, games, and regularly scheduled events of different types.
