The Vinchester Inn has a superb location, near the historic landmarks, restaurants, and museums. More reasonably priced than many of the bed-and-breakfasts, the Vinchester provides double rooms for $50. Our room was basic, yet complete - two double beds, a clean bathroom, a TV with many channels, and a microwave and small refrigerator. Off-street parking is available in a lot behind the motel. Breakfast is included, but consists of only canned juice and packaged pastries. Non-smoking rooms are available, but the lobby area is very smoky due to a receptionist's apparent affinity for cigarettes.
If you are after charm and luxury, you may be better off in one of the myriad bed-and-breakfasts. If you are on a budget, though, the Vinchester Inn is recommendable. The place was empty during my stay, but reservations are advisable during weekends, especially in the summer.
