The pool is huge with a cold Jacuzzi in the middle of the pool with you access by climbing up stairs. The beach is the best part of the resort, with a minibar right by the water built as a lighthouse. Clear Caribbean waters make this already superb resort even nicer. But make sure to arrive early at beach to reserve yourself an easy chair, or you’ll be sitting in the hot sun.
Dining; the 4 specialty restaurants are all great; El Colonial, Mexican,Geisha Japanease, and La Goleta Steakhouse. Don’t forget to reserve yourself a table at each restaurant by going to the main lobby reservations counter (make reservation couple days prior to enjoy best selection) But if you don’t get to go to any specialty restaurant some night the buffet at El Ingenio has a vast variety. For entertainment, the Star Friends have a plan of activities planned, that even if you stay a week, you can’t do all. They have dancing classes for Merengue, Bachata, Cha Cha Slide, and more. Now the shows are a little bit different story, they’re kind of lame and cheesy, but some are very cultural and amazing. Its hope here, that you see good ones. They are at 9:45pm every evening at the theater.
Also, from 11pm-3am go to Captain Nemo Discotheque for awesome dancing and spicy hot beats. Sixteen-year-olds and older only!
Comparing with other places that I've stayed in Mexico and now here, I can say the people are a tad nicer here, and the vendors are not as pushy when you choose not to purchase. Iberostar Resorts won a superb award for the third year now as best hotel chain of the world, so enjoy every minute, as you’ll be sobbing on the flight home like I was. (Literally!)
