pORTSMOUTH, United Kingdom
April 17, 2003
Cost was about £15 per night..only problem was on first floor and no lift..power cut in afternoon, no light, no air con then..well you are in Africa..not a bad restaurant, meal about £2:00 and open from 0600am til midnight..small bar, local beers and spirts only but at 35 pence a pint for beer, I am not moaning. Staff will call you a taxi and set the fare for you if you ask them so no haggling with the driver.
Small tips often go a long way in Ghana and staff remember customers that tip. 2000 cedis is more than enough..start with a thousand here and there or even a few coins, 500 or 200. Remember the average wage for a bar work is £8:00 per month...12 hrs shifts 7 days a week.
The Hotel is situtated near the heart of Accra so you are close to everything: good night life, restaurants, local beer bars. Do not be afraid to use local beer bars as they will welcome you and treat you very well and you might even make new friends, I did.
