We were here the last week in April, expecting to do some crabbing and fishing, but the weather was unusually cool, so the crabs and some of the fish hadn’t really made it to this area yet. We were told by some locals that the end of April usually has beautiful, warm weather, not the chilly days we experienced. The blue crabs are usually coming in by this time, plus the ocean trout is normally here and the fishing great. But the weather and ocean temps had been so cool that some of the piers opened about 2 weeks later than normal.
Our unit (house) was nice and spacious, with two bedrooms and two baths, a well-equipped kitchen, and a large living room/dining room with a fireplace. All of the buildings here are elevated or up on stilts, which allows for parking your car underneath the building. We had a nice-sized deck plus a smaller deck on top that gave us a view of the ocean. The resort has a nice outdoor pool that can be used in warmer weather.
This resort does not have a welcome center or activity center. The only employees we saw the whole week were the men mowing the grass. Since all we wanted to do was relax on the beach and do a little sightseeing, this was the perfect place for us.
The sunrise over the ocean is fabulous, so make sure to get up early one morning to experience it. Watching the dolphins playing just offshore was another highlight of this wonderful place.
