Poorly Maintained & Dirty

We should have known when we drove up and there was caution tape over the entry way that this place was not going to be great. Optimistically, we assumed that since we were staying in "renovated" unit, our condo would be decent. We were sorely disappointed. It was very dirty, the furniture tattered, the shades torn, mildew in the shower and a carpet that appeared to have dated back several decades without ever having been cleaned. Situated right on the beach, the view is amazing, but you see it over the peeling paint on the rickety deck. There is a new hot tub and some walls had been repainted. But others were stained and aging badly. All of the dishes, pots and pans were dirty, covered in a combination of cooking grease and construction debris. After much complaining, the manager did send someone to clean the condo, but quite honestly, there was only so much she could do. The bed linens and towels were thread bare and the pillows hardened foam. I am writing this review because all of the reviews on line were glowing, which set our expectations high. We traveled a great distance to enjoy a week on the lovely Oregon coast only to be met with totally substandard accommodations. I wouldn't want anyone else to have this kind of experience.

This was timeshare trade, so I don't know the price. We loved the Oregon coast, but not this complex. We were only at the complex to sleep and change clothes. This was a small older timeshare complex that sits on a bluff above the ocean. Beach access is a block or so away down some steps or you could drive down a hill and park on the sand. We did have beautiful ocean view from the room. This timeshare is ok for adults if you don't want a pool and aren't too particular.

The pool is about a mile away, up a hill and is the Lincoln City community pool. The pool was open for family swims from 1 to 3 pm and 7 to 9 pm. We didn't mind the cost of $2 per person, but the hours were not convenient for sightseeing and dining out. The boys enjoyed the community pool, but the times of operation limited our dinner options.

We had a one-bedroom unit on the second floor. The bedroom had one queen bed. The living area included a sleeper sofa. The building was very old, but the units had been redone. There was a small deck off the living room that overlooked ocean. All the cabinets, bookcases, dining set, dresser were made of nice-looking oak and didn't appear to be very old. The carpet was dirty and the unit was cleaned, but not very well.

There was a large deck and barbecue on the second floor. The problem was that the bedroom window opened on to the balcony and there were no screens, so the window and blinds had to remain closed for any bedroom privacy.

There’s no mid-week cleaning, but it can be scheduled for a fee (I was quoted $35). Towels can be exchanged at the office. The washer/dryer was very small, old, and did not work very well.

Best Things Nearby:
Beautiful glass "floats" are 'planted' all over 7 gorgeous miles of beach. It is great incentive to wander the beach on a blustery day. There is also a good-sized Factory Outlet Mall that is a fun outing for those so inclined. One of our favorite day trips was a magnificent drive north to the Tillamook Cheese Factory. We took a self-guided tour and had the opportunity to taste different cheeses as well. They have a small restaurant and a gift shop.In addition, they have an ice cream shop (of course, they make their own) that has all the traditional flavors and MANY really unusual flavors. Try a few! I don't recommend the licorice ice cream - it tastes like Nyquil.

Best Things About the Resort:
It was really low key. Nothing too fancy, but every unit has a balcony which looks out over a gorgeous beach. Quite comfortable and the managers are soooo polite/helpful.

Resort Experience:
We had a one-bedroom unit that was quite roomy and was fully equipped. The bed was unusually comfortable for a place not billed as a 4-star hotel!

Living Room/dining area was large and included plenty of seating, a large wall unit filled with books and lots of storage. Bathroom seemed recently renovated - really nice! Within a day or so, we felt quite 'at home'. Didn't feel much like returning to our normal lives.

  • Unit Type: 1 Bedroom
  • Activities: Not Available
  • Amenities: Very Good
  • Unit Satisfaction: Excellent
  • Family Friendliness: Excellent
  • Service: Very Good
