Loved the Via Roma!

As Bluegreen owners we found it difficult to find availability at this resort and once we did reserve a week, were not quite sure what to expect as we knew the resort was older.

We were all pleasantly suprised! Although the resort is older, the accomodations were very comfortable. We had one of the one bedroom units across the street from the main complex on the ground level. The 'condo' was quite large and the furnishings were more than comfortable. The rooms were all very clean. The kitchen was stocked with every type of cooking essential needed including a great blender!

The pool and hot tub were both very nice and clean. We enjoyed having our lunch in the covered area by the pool which was also an amazing spot for sunsets. We did use the barbecue pits which was nice. Once a week they also had a 'cocktail' hour where you could purchase bloody mary's for $1.

Everyone was very friendly and often gathered each day near the pool. The lady in the office, Collette ??, was exceptionally helpful and took a lot of time to explain to us where everything was on the island.

This is also an amazing stretch of beach!! The water was calm the first couple of days and then when Hurricane Ike brushed by, the surfers came out in droves from all over the US. We found an endless amount of seashells, some of them VERY large.

We liked it so much we are going back in two weeks!

This is an older timeshare but well-maintained. The kitchen was very well furnished. There are no planned activities so you are on your own. The mainland is a few minutes away with lots of things to do. We were looking for a place away from the bustle. Anna Maria island is such a place yet it has all the amenities you need.

Best Things Nearby:
The long, long, long sandy beach. Close to Sarasota: shopping in St Armands Circle, nice restaurants.

Best Things About the Resort:
Really nice beach resort, long sandy, clean beach. There were few people around, very peaceful. The outdoor hottub was great. The staff was friendly.

Resort Experience:
I didn´t feel very comfortable in the unit. The unit across the road where we stayed was very dark and old-fashioned, and we found ants in the bedroom. The equipment was functioning, but seemed very, very old.

There were no activities, but we were expecting that so there was no issue about that. We didn´t spend too much time in the resort, and instead went for day trips or to the beach.

Via Roma Beach Resort

Best Things Nearby:
The beach is only steps away. Glorious sunsets. Convenient shopping and restaurants. Art museums, science museums, aquariums, and amusement parks are within 20-90 miles. Bradenton Beach is sandwiched between the gulf and the bay with the island being no more than one mile wide. All sorts of water activites such as swimming, sailing, boating, jet skis and parasailing are available in the area.

Best Things About the Resort:
The pool, gazebo shaded awning overlooking the beach, and the beach are all within 100 yards of each other. It is quite a nice arrangement. The family atmosphere of the unit allows the freedom to grant the permission not generally allowed in the "big city" for children to swim, roam, and associate with others of the same age. Adults also "gather", exchange views, and Bar-B-Que together.

Resort Experience:
This is not a new complex that has top of the line furnishings. It is, however, an older beachside complex that is well maintained, offers comfortable furnishings, daily towel exchange, and friendly staff. This is a two story building containing approximately twenty one or two bedroom units. There is no elevator. Across the street is another two story building with additional 8-10 one bedroom units. The one bedrooms are either gulf front or a short walk across the street. The two bedrooms are all gulf view beach side. All of the two bedrooms overlook the pool and have an unobstructed side view of the beach from the balcony and bedroom windows. TV/VCR in the livng room, second TV in the master bedroom, all the appliances necessary are available in the kitchen, large dining/living space, but only one bath. The picture in the RCI book really shows that the pool, gazebo shaded area and the beach are all within close proximity of each other. Parking and laundry facilities are across the street. Loved the feel of safety walking the beach whether 4am or midnight. Condo offered bikes (highway a little busy) and supposedly fishing gear (never asked about this).

Best Things Nearby:
Great beach, near Sarasota and St. Petersburg.

Best Things About the Resort:
Right on the beach, this is a very relaxing place and always lots of children to make friends with.

Resort Experience:
We love the fact that Via Roma is small and compact. The rooms are adequate (though only 1 bath) but the view is terrific and the set up with the pool and beach beside one another is really terrific. We have always enjoyed the company of other vacationers and because it is small, you can really get to know and enjoy your neighbors during your stay.
