Best Things About the Resort:
Clean, quiet, excellent service.

Resort Experience:
Some friends, my wife, and I stayed at Telemark the week of the pre-birky. The resort was packed; however, we still felt the privacy of being in the north woods. We are not into cross-country skiing, but if that's your fancy, there are plenty of trails. We were there to snowmobile, and the trails were excellent. We were able to ride right from our condo to hundreds of miles of groomed trails. Excellent stay.

Golf, fishing, hiking, biking, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, snow boarding/tubing, horseback riding, Hayward Shops, Copper Falls State Park, Bayfield, Lake Superior, and Apostle Islands.

Best Things About the Resort:
The main lodge is fantastic. Our unit was a nice updated unit with a full kitchen, large living room with a fireplace, screened porch, Jacuzzi room, and a washer and dryer.

Resort Experience:
We checked into the main lodge, which is the center of the resort. It was impressive. The lodge was designed by Architect Herb Fritz, a student of Frank Lloyd Wright. The lobby has a beautiful 55 foot-tall, 155-ton fieldstone fireplace. The lodge also has the indoor pool, hot tub, game room, choice of dining venues, and a bar. If the weather does not cooperate, this is the place to go.

The resort also hosts two large events, the American Birkbeiner Cross-country Ski Race in February, starts at the resort and ends in Hayward, and the Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival off-road bicycle event in September.

To fully enjoy this area, you have to love the outdoors and nature and have your own vehicle. This area has something for everyone all year around. We enjoy golfing, so we played some nice quality courses in the Cable/Hayward area. There is a nice course next to the resort, but it had already closed for the season. We also enjoy hiking, so we went to Cooper Falls State Park, which is only 38 miles away.

I also enjoy fishing. There some nice streams and rivers close to fish, or you can go to Telemark Point (the resort has four units there), which is about 10 miles from the main resort to fish on resort property on Lake Namekagon. If you are fishing for muskies, head to Hayward and check out the Chippewa Flowage.

Hayward is also a nice place to visit and has nice shopping and dining venues. They also have nice shops to explore for antiques, bakery goods, and yes!--fudge and candy shops. Hayward also has the National Fresh Water Hall of Fame with a 100 foot high muskie, and lumberjack shows.

Telemark is nicely located to launch on a day trip to Ashland to visit the Northern Great Lakes Visitor Center, or to Bayfield for a taste of New England and a visit to the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. During the summer, they also have the Lake Superior Big Top Chautauqua which has a variety of live entertainment under a big top tent. Or make a day trip to Duluth, MN, which has so many things to do.

This resort is a great place to go as a family for outdoor activities. This has been my second stay at the resort and I will return again.

Resort Experience:
It was very roomy but a bit outdated and not alot to do. The resort just came out of bankruptcy, which made it a bit depressing. It needs alot of upgrades. DO NOT GET UNITS WITHOUT FULL KITCHENS
