Best Things Nearby:
Skiing ten miles, very so-so restaurants, handful of craftsy shops

Best Things About the Resort:
Not terribly much

Resort Experience:
The unit is nice but basic, but the staff was very far from being accommodating, even for simple or basic needs. It was difficult to get our needs met in general.

Many of the locals, especially waitstaff, seemed like they suffered various forms of mental illness--my husband and I are both psychiatrists. And I'm noy talking eccentricities--I mean really, really weird people. We stayed for three weeks and really tried exploring the town. Mount Snow is lovely for skiing about 10-12 miles away from Wilmington.

But that's really about it in terms of best things about nearby to this resort. The hot tub was broken. The staff woman, for instance, at Crafts Inn where we stayed became cross with us regarding our checkout time when we requested a few extra minutes to get ourselves packing up to leave.

Best Things Nearby:
There are many restaurants (although open for the season only after Christmas) with cheap and expensive options, small clothing stores, bars, and of course, skiing.

Best Things About the Resort:
I was pleasantly surprised by the pool area of the resort because it is much nicer than the RCI pictures. (It is set in a courtyard-like area with a hot tub, decent-size pool, a ping-pong table, and saunas). The local restarant, Alonzo, is pretty good and not too expensive.

Resort Experience:
In addition to the pool area, there is also a racquetball court, a computer with Internet access, small romance book’s library, and free coffee and tea (in the lobby). The unit is nice but basic, with lots of space (we had one of the two-bedrooms available there), with a large living room/dining room area and smaller bedrooms. The staff was not very helpful throughout, only apologetic. The hot tub was broken one day but fixed the next.

The only problem we encountered is when we wanted to check out 15 minutes later than the set check-out time. The staff lady yelled at us, charged us $25 for 15 minutes, and kept calling until we left. We were so happy with the resort until the check-out.

Best Things Nearby:
Lots of quaint clothing stores, art galleries and a variety of restaurants. Everything from family (budget oriented) restaurants to fine dining and nationally ranked restaurants.

Best Things About the Resort:
Alonzo is probably the best thing about this resort. The other thing that is good about the resort is the location, which is in the heart of Wilmington.

Resort Experience:
The Inn itself is standard in amenities. There is an indoor pool (salt based), a hot tub, several arcade game, a ping pong table, a racketball court and sauna.

Unfortunately, the pictures featured by RCI is not a good representation of the pool and hot tub. “In real life” the pool and hot tub area is actually much nicer than the pictures. The pool and hot tub were adequately maintained and clean.

The Inn also has a laundry facility. However, there is only one washing machine for the Inn (all 30 units) and two dryers. The Inn does not have any planned activities, so you are left to amuse yourself. An excellent source for more information around this area (Mount Snow and Deerfield) can be found at www.visitvermont.com. Make sure you order the Visitor’s Guide from this site. It’s worth your while.

Crafts Inn - Rooms

All units at Crafts Inn are one bedroom units. The Inn does not have an elevator, so be prepared to carry your belongs up the stairs should you have one of the upper units.

Our unit was no larger than 600 sq ft. and is as small as it sounds. The unit is adequate for a family with two small children, but would be very tight for four adults. The main bedroom contains a queen size bed, two small dressers and a fairly large closet. The living area contains a 17 inch colour TV with cable (minus HBO and PPV channels). There is a fold-out couch with a double bed and also a single settee. There is also a small four (4) seat breakfast table and a full kitchen containing an upright fridge, a large single sink, a dishwasher, small four element stove, standard microwave, coffee maker and toaster.

The one thing that I have to say that is extremely disappointing with the unit is the location of the bathroom. It’s right beside the kitchen. The bathroom is small standard unit containing a large mirror, a medicine cabinet, a toilet, sink and a tub/shower. Make sure you bring a hair dryer because it is not a standard provision.

Overall, Crafts Inn is a basic, clean and standard efficiency unit. If you just need a place to lie down at night to sleep and cook breakfast in the morning, it's OK to do that, but don't expect anything more because it doesn't offer anything more.
