Vacation Time Condominium at VICC

Our two-bedroom/two-bathroom timeshare accommodation at this RID resort in Brownsville was an end unit on the ground floor, and gave us really good views of the outdoors. . . and the waterway that the resort is on was part of that view! We got some good photos; some had wildlife in them.

The unit was around 1,000 square feet and was very well-appointed throughout. It had everything we needed for the week. The decor was very nice -- just lovely! The Southwest is well represented in such things as vases. The room containing the washer and dryer, side by side, was about the best I'd ever seen in a timeshare. There was a long shelf overhead and a good supply of laundry soap was sitting on it, ready to use! There was an iron and ironing board to one side, against the wall. A linen closet close to the laundry room contained stacks of towels and linens. The full kitchen was very well-equipped and nicely arranged. There were sliding glass doors off the living room and the master bedroom. Both the master bedroom and the second bedroom had ceiling fans. Also, there's good closet space in both bedrooms! The lovely dining room also had a ceiling fan, is just off the kitchen, and is open to the living room. There is one parking space per unit and they are right in front of the buildings.

We were picked up at our front door to go on a tour of Matamoros, which we thought was super! The people at check-in are helpful -- you can ask the gal in there about anything! You can take out movies there, too, during your stay -- and they're free!

Best Things Nearby:
The "Cobblehead Bar and Grill" across the street - great eating! There's a beautiful library close by, too!

It's special to be able to walk into Mexico from Brownsville - of course, the city you walk into is Matamoros.

South Padre Island, TX, is just 25 miles away, an easy drive.

We learned that the "border" city of Progresso, in Mexico, is popular with tourists, and that it's no more than 50 miles from the resort.

Best Things About the Resort:
We liked the resort's location, and its "setting," very scenic...had good views from our unit.

It gives a feeling of peace and tranquility. It is a quiet scene here! The resort staff was helpful, and the unit was gorgeous! We would return!

Resort Experience:
It was a wonderful week! Our two-bedroom unit was on the first level, which we really appreciated, and it met all of our expectations, to be sure! It was very tastefully decorated throughout!

Our unit was an "end" one and looked out on a body of water...and a golf course just on the other side of it. We really liked the location of the unit and the location of this resort in Brownsville.

We saw a lot of the city's sights on our own, walked over into Matamoros one day, and another day went on a 3-4 hour tour of the city. The driver/guide on the tour was just great, very knowledgeable!

We also visited the city of Progresso, another border city in Mexico. You enter it no more than 50 miles west of Brownsville. This was an enjoyable experience, a "learning of the culture"...on the city's "market" streets.

We would have liked it if the resort had held a function for the timesharers there that week, a time when they got together and shared. However, this is minor -- we had a great week at Vacation Time Condos at VICC -- it was an excellent RCI exchange! !

Best Things Nearby:
We were 10 minutes to Mexico, 30 minutes to South Padre, about a hour to the wildlife refuge, and were within minutes of the Brownsville zoo. If you go into Mexico I would go with a tour guide, and not drive into Mexico. When you go to South Padre Island, I recommend you go on the boat that drives on the land and the water.

Best Things About the Resort:
The unit was quiet, clean, and decorated simple, but very nicely. The unit was also filled with enough supplies to last you the entire week.

Resort Experience:
The office offered donuts and coffee. The staff was very helpful with ideas to plan your day trips. The best trip we took was to Mexico. A tour van picked us up at our door and took us into Mexico for four hours. We went shopping in the galleria, the local market, and ended with a great Mexican lunch.

The other trip we enjoyed was South Padre Island. You will have to go on the boat that goes on land and on water. If you have kids this will be their trip memory. We also enjoyed the beach, the Turtle Refuge, and of course the seafood.
