Best Things Nearby:
Mont Ste. Anne could be seen from our living room, our bedroom, and our balcony, and the view was spectacular. One could take a shuttle to the mountain, and there is a depanneur within walking distance for groceries, liquor, and movie rentals (many more in French than English).
The resort itself has a wonderful restaurant (and club members get a discount). There are two outdoor pools and a tennis court on site.
There are lots of things to do right in Ste. Anne, and Quebec City, with its history, culture, restaurants, and shopping, is a 30-minute drive.
Best Things About the Resort:
Everyone at Club Vacances is courteous, friendly, helpful, and genuinely interested in helping you to have a great holiday. There were information sessions and social events--each was well organized, on time, to the point, and at a time that would not interfere with your entire day.
I could sit and stare at the view all day long.
The one thing lacking was a gym or workout room, but I would not have had time in any case.
Resort Experience:
We were two people in a one-bedroom, and we felt it would be very cramped for the four people who could presumably fit in here.
The living area had a sleeper couch and two small straight-back upholstered chairs. There were no drawers for those in the living area to put their belongings, although there was a small area of shelves beside the front door. The television was a small 19-inch one, although we did see larger ones in some units when we peeked through the windows. There was a small fireplace in which you could only burn those special logs (available for $2 from reception).
There was an enormous balcony, which, again, looked out upon the mountain--four chairs and a table were stacked in the corner. It was winter and too cold to sit out, but the balcony and stairs were cleaned promptly every time it snowed.
The kitchen area was a joke in terms of the counter and layout. The sink was in the corner, and you had to stand sideways to use it and reach quite far to reach the taps. There were no drawers, and the cutlery was in a tray under the sink. There were, however, six of each place setting and plenty of clean pots and pans, even a fondue set. The appliances were clean and well maintained, and there was a gift basket with sugar, tea, and coffee. A dishwasher (a small one) and dishwashing soap was supplied.
The bathroom was small but clean, with plenty of towels.
The bedroom was also small, with a queen-size bed, two night tables, and one dresser with three drawers. There was a large window near the top of the cathedral ceiling, which could annoy those who like it dark for sleeping.
All of the closets had stuff in them, like brooms, a big fan (the unit has no air-conditioning), and the water heater, but there were plenty of hangers for your things.
The personnel at Club Vacances was very helpful. We were there for three mornings, and on two of them, a breakfast was served early enough so that you could get in a full day of skiing. One of these was to offer information about activities in the area, where to go for help about reservations for these, etc. The other morning was to give information about points, and it was not a sales pitch, just helpful information. Other activities put on by the resort were a cocktail party to meet fellow timeshare visitors, a pancake breakfast, a snowshoe outing, and a horse-drawn sleigh ride.
Mont Ste. Anne was a 2-minute drive down the road, and if you had no car, there was a shuttle available. You could purchase your pass at Club Vacances, and there were also special multi-day passes to buy.
