The Rough Guide describes this as the pick of the bunch. having just noted the quality of Ålesund's downtown hotels. We have only tried this one but we have every reason to agree. This was a waterside warehouse until fairly recently and many of the original features have been and must be kept. Self-catering is possible in a very well eqipped room with chopsticks as well as Western cutlery. There is also a sauna and facilities for washing clothes. Breakfast is very good. The place is very striking from the outside, enjoying Ålesund's art nouveau style.
