The service is unparalleled! The units are clean and spacious. Great home base.
Resort Experience:
We stayed at the resort for several days to celebrate the Christmas holiday. The resort staff and owner could not have been nicer. They suggested places to eat, things to do and the best directions and maps. They were the nicest I have ever encountered.
We were in a second-floor unit that overlooked the front entrance. From the second floor we could not see Hershey Park, though others above us could probably see it. The unit was spacious, well laid out, very clean and comfortable for all of us. The sofabed was not very comfortable, but the second bedroom had two full-size beds rather than twins.
The resort is well located. Hershey Park has its free tour at Chocolate World and the store for browsing. For an extra fee, we took the trolley tour, which included a visit from Santa with all of the children's names on his "nice" list and a small ornament for each. They were quite thrilled! We rode around town singing Christmas carols. It was very nice and worth the cost.
We also spent two days walking through "Candy Lane" at Hershey with many of the rides open. The park was decorated very nicely. We were able to buy electric trains at cost from the train shop. The boys decorated cookies and enjoyed hot cocoa and s'mores. The cost for ride tickets was a bit excessive, and food was high-priced. At least admission was free. Parking was $6 per car.
One day we took a ride to Strasburg and went on the Santa train. We then enjoyed an Amish dinner at Plain and Fancy Restaurant. It was fun watching the buggies riding past and seeing life so different. At night, we enjoyed Dutch Wonderland. Again, admission (and parking) were free, with rides costing about the same as Hershey. All of the rides were definitely geared towards younger children. It was a good place to stop after dinner for a nice walk.
The last night we drove through Hershey's Sweet Lights. It was well worth the money ($15/car). There were miles and miles of displays through the forest.
The only negative I can say about staying at this resort is the noise from the freight trains. I am not a light sleeper and still was disturbed every night by the loud horns. My boys loved watching the trains, though. Bring headphones or earplugs if you think it would bother you. I would not let it keep me from returning here.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning. It was a nice way to enjoy the holiday with our children.
