Shabby, friendly, very central, directly opposite the station. I was horrified when I saw my room, late at night, with no opportunity to go elsewhere. It reeked of cheap tobacco, and contained little more than a double bed, a single bed, and a television. The bed covers were made of greying floral-patterned nylon, and there were cigarette burns on visible surfaces. But this isn’t a doss-house for asylum seekers. The cigarette burns on the bedding had been neatly patched. The sheets were crisp white cotton, the towels were changed daily, and the room was as clean as the furnishings allowed. Family-run (the son is charming, unfailingly courteous, and absolutely gorgeous), relaxed, and much more fun than I expected when I arrived. Not on the tourist office books, so apply directly, if you’re interested.
39.50 euro a day for single (the price seemed to be per room, not per person) with hand basin.
