Set on eight acres of scenic Texas Farmland, the Inn offers 27 rooms and suites in renovated historic farmhouses, cottages, and barns. I chose this place because of the proximity to Gruene Hall (less than a mile) and discovered it was quite the find! Usually I am a big hotel chain type of gal, and tend to avoid bed and breakfasts. But I was so pleased with the charm and tranquility here at the Gruene Homestead Inn.
My boyfriend and I stayed in the Lady Banks Suite in Rose Cottage. It is one of two rooms in an old farmhouse. It has a queen bed, queen sofa-couch, shower, sitting room with wet bar and dining table and refrigerator. But the best part was the porch with rocking chairs. We sat in front of our room and it was so peaceful. While outside we got a kick out of a newlywed couple enjoying their first day of marriage on a swing at one of the other rooms.
Breakfast was good, but didn't have a huge assortment. We did not take advantage of the swimming pool or hot tub as it was too cold. There was nobody in the adjacent room, so I can't say that it would always be that quiet.
Overall we thought that the staff was really great, and the rooms were charming.
