Best Things Nearby:
Many state parks for outdoor activities are within an hour away. While you can fish in the nearby lake, they don't recommend eating the fish--too many PCBs in the water.
Best Things About the Resort:
Out in the woods, so very quiet. A small resort and the units are quite clean, adequate and functional.
Resort Experience:
This is not a Gold Crown resort, and as long as you know that, you should be okay.
We thought the units were fine. They overlooked a wooded valley and were of typical two-bedroom, two-bathroom style on two levels with a fireplace. The main level has a covered balcony. The upstairs level has an open balcony accessible from both bedrooms, both the length of the unit. There's a queen-size bed in one bedroom and two twins in the other.
On-site were an indoor pool and spa. Other amenities were 2-3 miles away. A car is definitely needed. A Winn-Dixie grocery store is 5+ miles away; a convenience store is down the street.
Cell phones don't work that well down in the valley, so you need to go find the top of the hill to make a call. Local calls are free, so Internet access is easy on your laptop.
Off-season, it would make a nice romantic weekend as long as you weren't expecting a Gold Crown resort.
