THE RESORT 1 MILE UP AND AROUND MOUNTAIN.

THE ANDERSON MALL AN HOUR AWAY.

Best Things About the Resort:
THE BEST THING MY FAMILY ENJOYED AT THIS RESORT WAS THE MOUNTAIN TOP POOL AREA.

Resort Experience:
Very small and low-key resort that doesn't have a lot to offer besides a community room with games, books, movie rentals and arcade. Also there is a small snack cafe.

Best Things Nearby:
The waterfalls (lots to choose from). For us the movie theatre, bowling alley, shopping, and various restaurants located in Seneca.

Best Things About the Resort:
The units. Large living room, 6 person dining table, deck, large kitchen, stove and fridge, two bedrooms and two baths, fully carpeted.

Resort Experience:
Lots and lots of beautiful trees. There are 1, 2 and 3 bedroom units fully equipped with everything you need. There is a playground for the children with picnic tables and grills. There is an indoor pool with a hot tub, game room and laundry in the same building. The outdoor pool is very spacious. The overall atmosphere was very relaxing for the adults. The children "relaxed" in their own way; we hardly ever saw them. It was a great getaway but they needed more family activities at the resort like volleyball, bingo night, family fun night... But that's just my opinion.

Best Things Nearby:
The northwestern corner of South Carolina is known for its beautiful scenery. There are numerous waterfalls that are easily accessible. This area is close to the Georgia and North Carolina borders.

We visited Toccoa Falls on the grounds of a liberal arts college. The charge a small fee, but the waterfall is stunning with a rainbow formed at the bottom of the rushing water. The gift shop one walks through to get to the falls contains a number of lovely items. The best day to go is Sunday, because the adjoining restaurant serves a fabulous brunch. We also visited Helen, Georgia, which is a recreated Bavarian village. Although it is very commercial, it is a fun stop with shops and restaurants. Whitewater Falls in North Carolina was spectacular. We are amateur photographers and found a plethora of areas to photograph. Cashiers and Highlands, N. C. are mountain towns, again with wonderful scenery, shops, etc. The Chatooga River, location for the movie Deliverance has many rapids with kayakers and floaters shooting through. The campus of Clemson is worth visiting. In the spring, the Botanic Gardens are filled with colorful flowers and plants. We were there in the fall, so we missed all that. Greenville has a decent zoo and is a small city. Atlanta, GA is two hours away in light traffic. I would not advise attempting the drive during rush hour.

Best Things About the Resort:
We liked the fact that there was no pressure to buy there. We were really on our own. The location is in a very quiet, country setting. We had a two-bedroom unit that was quite spacious with a full kitchen, living room, dining area, and bath downstairs. Upstairs were two bedrooms and another bathroom. It was nicely appointed and very comfortable. For nicer weather, there were two balconies, one on each level. There is a laundry area on the premises with several washers and dryers and a nice outside area in which to wait, weather permitting.

Resort Experience:
For the person seeking quiet in a rural setting, this is the place. There were no resort-sponsored activities and nor were the few amenities easily accessible. The main office was small and open only during select hours. However, any staff we encountered were pleasant and helpful.

Best Things Nearby:
Waterfalls, Six Flags Over Georgia, Atlanta, Helen, GA, Toccoa, GA, Split Creek Farm in Anderson, SC, Greenville, SC, and Lake Hartwell just down the road.

Best Things About the Resort:
Roomy, large rooms, new furniture, deck and patio, large TV in living room, and two full bathrooms. Kitchen had dishwasher, garbage disposal, full-size refrigerator, oven, microwave.

Resort Experience:
The Foxwood Hills Resort is smaller than some resorts we've been to, but the area is lovely and the people were very friendly. No sales people bothered us. They had a welcome breakfast where you met the staff. The outdoor pool is huge, and the water warm. You never felt crowded in the pool. The indoor pool was being repaired, but we saw it being filled when we left and it looked great. Recreation center is small, but fun for the kids, and there is another center by the outdoor pool, with a restaurant/lounge upstairs. They should however add more resort activities to their list.

Aqaba - Al Jaber Hotel

  • June 7, 2002
  • Rated 3 of 5 by DrMaximus from Montreal, Quebec
At the very end of Ragadan Street lies this backpacker quality hotel where guests can enjoy a night of cheap restful sleep. The rates are variable but hover around JD10,000 or much less for a space on the roof. There is a TV, hot water and air-conditioning in every room. The open air roof affords a 360 degrees view of the entire city as well as of the Gulf over to Eilat. I wasn’t terribly impressed by the furnishings, but if you are on a shoe-string, the Al Jaber would make a nice choice.

The bakery next door is perhaps the best attraction as it boasts of no less than a hundred different types of Middle Eastern and local sweets. Thought that a baklava is just layers and layers of crumbling pastry filled to the brim with chopped pistachios and honey? Here, you will be proven wrong while your sweet tooth will be taken for a ride!
