The bed was hard as a rock, and the room we were in was one of the next on the list to be renovated, but the accommodations were nonetheless great. I got to see one of the newly renovated rooms, and it looks like they're doing things right. They're spending money, and when they're done, Roundhouse will be among the cream of the crop. There were games and activities for the whole family (including movies every night, or others for rent), and the location can't be beat. Close enough to town for dining or other amenities, but far enough away that you might as well have been camping in the woods. Going the other way, and you're a hop, step, and a jump away from the Sunrise Ski area, one of Arizona's premier ski locales.
After the ton of snow received while we were there, Sunrise had the deepest base in the country. For those of us in the Phoenix area, Pinetop is one of our state's vacation hotspots. It's prime for getting a taste of snow in the winter (who wants to shovel that stuff all the time when you can merely visit it!), and it's a cool getaway from Phoenix's summer heat. Pay 'em a visit, you'll be glad you did.
