If you visit Charlottesville interested in the grounds of the University of Virginia and are on a budget (or, like usual, all the other, nicer hotels are booked), this is the place to stay.
There are definitely much nicer hotels in Charlottesville, but because of random events at the University of Virginia they often sell our for many weekends. The Budget Hotel is typically available -- but not cheap. For about $100/night you will probably not be satisfied with your accomodations, but if you simply want a place to sleep for the night that is close to the "action" of Charlottesville, this is a good place to stay.
My family has stayed in this hotel when coming up for UVA football games and has not once been impressed with anything about the hotel--but satisfied nonetheless. It is one of maybe four or five hotels in Charlottesville within walking distance of Scott Stadium.
The only thing negative about this hotel's location is the fact that if you come to Charlottesville, you are more than likely going to Monticello. No matter what you stay, you must DRIVE to Monticello. Staying further away from the University of Virginia and "the Corner" district is not a terrible idea. Parking can be an issue in some places in Charlottesville, but typically spots will be found at most times of the year.
