The lobby is nicely decorated. The staff did their best to help you, although service wasn´t the best.Resort Experience:If you’re in Durbs, I would say this is the resort to stay at. It’s Gold Crown, with great units, amazing views, and an excellent location. Durban is a huge city, with lots of things to do. The resort has a pizza place close to the lobby don’t miss it.

The staff is lovely. The front desk was very acomodating as we changed dates, had different friends coming in and out of rooms and tried to get on the internet to check with the folks back home. We ate dinner at two of the restaurants -- Italian, which was surprisingly good, and Thai, which was surprisingly average.
A breakfast buffet was included in the special deal we got through Amari's website. It included the most eclectic assortment of foods I've ever seen. Sushi, Danish sliced meat and cheese, Thai noodles, Indian porridge and omelettes were just some of the items. We couldn't identify all the juices, but had fun trying the rainbow (we recognized pineapple, apple, grape, orange, and papaya, but the pale green one eluded us).
The best part of this was the good deal we got. We paid about $100 per night per room -- splitting it two or three ways, it was quite a bargain (the third person in the room had to pay for breakfast, though). Amari has a website which is worth looking at if you are travelling to Thailand. We stayed at an Amari in Bangkok as well. While not as nice as the Phuket hotel, it was certainly acceptable. You can put together a package deal that includes hotels in different parts of the country for a good price.
