Resort Experience:
We stayed at Sundial in late March, which we think is the perfect time of year to visit Texas. The weather was gorgeous and warm, but not scorching, and there were very few bugs. The resort is in a fairly undeveloped stretch of road between Port Aransas and Corpus Christi. We found the area not crowded, but still very close to lots of activities.
The units were really large and sported a full-sized laundry room, a bar, two bedrooms, two baths, and lots of living space. The master bedroom had a walk-in closet! Our favorite thing was that instead of a pullout bed, this resort has two rollaway beds. Not only are they more comfortable than a pullout, but you can also put them wherever it’s most convenient for you. There is a balcony that has a lovely view of the ocean.
The beach is a short walk over the dunes and features a wide enough spot to sit or play, and a beach road perfect for walking, even with a stroller! The pool here is unheated, but the hot tub was great! You are on your own here, there are no scheduled activities, but no one will bother you either. There are plenty of places nearby to go birding that are very accessible. Most of them have a very short walk with a huge variety of birds. Have no idea what you are looking at? Just ask. There is always someone who is willing to point things out just don't forget the binoculars!
