Resort Experience:
It was the ghetto of Florida. When I arrived, they had lost my reservation and gave me a hard time. Then I went to the site that I was assigned, and it was full of a big puddle and next to a man who was living there in a tent. There were beer cans everywhere, but because it was Good Friday, no one had anything, so we decided to wait out the holiday and see what would transpire. It got worse. The bathrooms were atrocious - no toilet tissue - and when we asked them to clean and restock them, they sent us to the condo association, who said we needed to bring our own toilet tissue, so at 9pm, after driving for 24 hours, we set out in search of toilet tissue. Then we awoke in the middle of the night, and they had locked the bathhouses with a padlock. The next day, we needed showers and discovered that someone had defecated in the showers. When I asked them to clean them, the maintenance man said he has this problem all the time and he cleans it with a garden hose and no bleach. I was glad to have family 30 minutes away so that we could shower there. There was also graffiti in the men's room shower stall. I know that this is hard to believe, but I have photos.
The pool was closed until Wednesday of the next week, and when we went to swim in it, my son cut his wrist on a wire on the fence. When I asked for a bandage, I was refused, and the desk clerk, Nancy, would not even let us fill out an incident report. I went to the urgent care clinic and spent $127 on a tetanus shot and doctor's exam.
This place was absolutely horrid--I would hate for another family to fall for their false claims of activities, which consisted of blood-pressure checks and shuffleboard for adults only, as well as an Easter egg hunt at 8am on Saturday. I was really unhappy. I was told that my complaints could go into the comment box and they would look at them at the next condo association meeting. This was a place where people lived; it was full of unruly teenagers that toilet-papered the place and stray dogs. The residents stole my husband's shoes, and the responce was that they could not control the residents children. It was, in fact, like staying in hell. I would not recommend it to anyone, and I have shared my pictures with the Department of Health. I hope that they do clean it up.
