Great B&B! Fronting Edgewater Beach on Lake Ave, surrounded by other huge 3-story "doubles", this one was converted to a single mansion by the Catholic Monks who bought the property during the last century. It is now proudly owned by Gayle Lopez, your B&B host. Costs vary but, for me, for the length I was staying and all, it was $99 a night, and for the most INCREDIBLE room.
Very clean and beautifully restored, there still remains two dining rms, two living rms, two kitchens, to the point where guests get one of their own, of each. At night, when guests come in from their evening, in their kitchen, they can put their leftovers in their own frig and there are homemade cookies or brownies on a plate waiting for them on their kitchen table.
There are a ton of bedrooms, all shapes and sizes, and all with antique period furnishings. My room was especially unique. It used to be in the part of the house the monks used for their chapel and altar. The actual bedroom was thru the arch (see pics) where the altar was. The sitting room and ensuite bathroom was up front in what was the formal chapel area. Located upstairs, in the front of the house, my view looked out toward the lake.
A sample of the breakfast served: Fruit & Yogurt Parfait served in Sundae Cups with Strawberry Sauce, Homemade Banana Bread with Dark Chocolate Icing followed by Homemade Orange French Toast, Syrup and Canadian Bacon. And by homemade, I mean even the bread was homemade. It tasted especially orangey and yummy. Gayle said it was from the orange bud oil she put in it.
Finally, the place is gorgeous both inside and out. Lots of gardens with a full grass and flower garden lot next door, which Gayle owns and maintains as well.
Pet friendly.
