This campground in Channel Islands National Park is ideal for all kinds of experiences. There''s kayaking and scuba diving though I spent most of my time meandering in the tidepools. Hikers come from all over - most go self-guided but I think you can arrange with the Park Rangers for guided interpretive island tours. Steep cliffs are ideal for vista-viewing and cliff-climbing. Bird watchers - take the hike over a breathtaking natural bridge to the West Island where there''s the largest (Protected by the National Park Reserve) breeding ground of an endangered species of pelican. As for other Wildlife, cormorants and sea lions are sometimes around.
Only recommended for the very fit, as there''s a 1/2 mile hike and a 154 step climb (no cars!) to even get to the camp site. There''s no cost to camp, but if you want to reserve, there''s a $2.50 fee.
