The Viewpoint Resort is a small, oceanfront, all-suites inn located just a stone's throw from York's famed Cape Neddick Lighthouse (or Nubble, as the locals call it).
With less than a dozen suites in total, the 10-year old Viewpoint Resort is cozy and laid-back. Guests are free to walk the garden-like grounds, swim in the heated in-ground pool, or simply kick back and relax in one of the many white Adirondack chairs just begging to be enjoyed. Anywhere you look while at the Viewpoint, you'll see fabulous views of the Nubble Light, Boon Island Light in the distance, and of course, miles of endless blue ocean. Guest suites range from one-bedroom, one-bedroom with loft (extra money, but recommended), or spacious two- and three-bedroom accommodations. Viewpoint also offers conference and/or reunion accommodations for parties of 14 or less.
On our weekend getaway, we stayed in one of the larger one-bedroom suites ($175+/nt), and while we expected to be somewhat disappointed with the view at ground level, that certainly wasn't the case. Nubble Light was directly across the cove from us -- picture perfect! Our suite was very clean, well-appointed, nicely furnished, and spacious. We cooked our own dinners using the full kitchen (mini appliances) and suite-provided pots and dishes. In the evening, we took a glass of wine out to our private balcony to watch the sunset. The only downside about our suite was the bedroom faced the parking lot, rather than the ocean, but we remedied that by camping out on the sofa sleeper (comfortable, too) in the living room, which gave us sunrise views of Nubble each morning.
We had often driven past The Viewpoint on our many trips to Nubble, so it was with great anticipation that we booked our special weekend to get away. It was everything we hoped for. We very highly recommend The Viewpoint for excellent accommodations off the beaten path in York Beach.
