The Fulbari

Best Things Nearby:
The Fulbari is really quite out of the way when it comes to having anything NEAR it. This is somewhere to go to actually just catch your breath and relax.

Best Things About the Resort:
It's a 5-star resort, no doubt about it. Perched on the edge of the Seti River gorge, the views are stunning and the grounds are immaculate. Be sure to get a 'mountainside' room.

Resort Experience:
The Fulbari is a lot like I imagine Shangri La would be, honestly. It's quiet and very relaxing. Being off the beaten path, the hotel doesn't seem to ever be very crowded. The food is phenomenal, the staff very pleasant, and they spared no expense when they were building the place. I blew three rolls of film just taking pictures of the hotel itself.

Hotel du Parc

Come prepared to be charmed, you won't be disappointed. Everything here is warm and welcoming. We were obviously expected and we were escorted to our rooms by Rosangela Martin who, together with her husband Didier and son Valentino, are the resident owners. We were welcomed as if we were guests in a private home and we were not expected to sign credit card slips before we had even seen our rooms.

Roseangela did ask us if we planned to eat at the hotel that evening and we answered in the affirmative. This was still only our third night and we had come a long way and wanted nothing more than to have a nice dinner and a good night's sleep.

Al and I had a double room on the second floor. It was decorated in shades of blue and was warm and cozy. It had a minibar, a color TV, a pretty little dressing table and chair, good lighting, comfortable bed, small antique table and 2 chairs and a nice bathroom with tub, hand held shower, hairdryer and basket of toiletries. The doors have brass placques telling you what famous person has slept in your room. We felt quite honored to be in the Charles de Gaulle room. The hotel does not have an elevator so you will need to be able to carry your luggage up the stairs.

Breakfast is not included in the rate but we gladly paid the extra just to able to relax and enjoy. The breakfast room is bright and sunny, done in shades of yellow. The food was varied and plentiful. If you want you can even have champagne with your meal. (I actually did one morning and felt quite decadent). You could choose from boiled eggs, cereal, cheese, cake, yogurt, juice, crepes, some very nice breads, croissants, cold meat, bacon and real maple syrup. A waitress brought the coffee, tea or chocolate to your table. The orange juice was fresh-squeezed.

This whole hotel is full of atmosphere and has been decorated with a loving hand. There are antiques in the halls and public rooms and a feeling of warmth and friendliness. The parlor had a welcoming fire and you wanted to sit and browse through the stacks of travel books that are placed around the room.

There is a swimming pool if you plan to visit in the warm weather, also a jacuzzi and a small exercise room. The location is an easy walk into Thann and the hotel has it's own outdoor parking.
