We were exceptionally pleased with this award winning B&B/hotel. It is located on Tadcaster Road which eventually, with a couple of name changes, extends through Micklesgate into the old town. It is a long, but not unreasonable, walk from the hotel to the city walls. We elected to return via taxi after a long day and big dinner.
The Arndale is one of several large homes on Tadcaster Road. The Victorian structure sits on beautifully landscaped grounds and has ample parking after you pass through the carriage way into the gardens in back. After checking in, you ascend up a staircase to a large lounge that has a bar facility, comfortable chairs and loads of books. We found this a good spot to read local information and unwind.
Our room overlooked the manicured garden which was in its spring glory. The antique furnishings and huge bed were very in keeping with the Victorian mood. The toilet and bath facilities were in good order. Cleanliness and comfort rated very high.
Our special request to chill a sparkling wine for our anniversary was met with style when we returned from touring. Breakfast, full English of course, was excellent.
