Recompense Shores Campsites

Make sure to reserve and ocean-front site at Recompense. All the sites are nice but the ones overlooking Casco Bay are absolutely breathtaking! Sit and watch the tide come and go (it happens quick), enjoy a peaceful campfire (never a noise problem here), or head down to the beach to bask in the sun! Nearby, you can take a nature walk through Wolfe's Neck Farm State Park and view the endangered Osprey's in their natural island habitat, or take a bike ride up the University of Maine's mansion on the point and walk around the gardens. And, don't forget the town of Freeport with GREAT outlet shopping, only a 5-minute ride away (if you want to go back to civilization for a bit).

The staff is friendly, the sites are clean and reasonably prices, and you'd be hard-pressed to find another campground in the area with views that even compare to this.

One final note, there are clean outhouses (no flush toilets), and sometimes-hot showers.
