St. Leonards is a stone dwelling on the Warminster Road. There are a number of rooms upstairs and one in the former attic. We were fortunate enough to get the attic room. The bedroom was just average size and comfortable, but the attached bath was a treat--it was huge with the most remarkable sink arrangement. Standing at the sink, one looked out across the outskirts of the northeastern outskirts of Bath over the valley of the Avon River. We thought the accommodations very comfortable.
The building itself is within walking distance of the city, it takes 10 to 15 minutes down the Warminster Road, a shortcut through a park and then down Great Pulteney Street. We did walk in one evening for dinner and found a great East Indian Restaurant in Great Pulteney Street (the Rajpoot) but we tended on other nights to go to The George, a pub down on the Avon Canal. The food was excellent, much better than regular "pub grub".
The host and hostess at St. Leonards were extremely congenial and the breakfast every morning in the dining room (with the same wonderful view) was excellent. There is parking in the front of the house and it turned out to be an excellent starting point for day trips outside Bath. To see this B & B and the many others situated around Bath, go to smoothhound. Current 2003 price is 58 pounds.
