Mariner's Pointe Resort

Best Things Nearby:
There are old country stores, lakes to fish, and lots of down-home restaurants to eat at.

Best Things About the Resort:
Every person makes it a point to make you feel at home.

Resort Experience:
It's like a home away from home. Growing up around the resort, I am partial to it. Down home again is always the best, and I recommend everyone go here once in their lifetime.

Best Things Nearby:
The town of Rugby, general store, Smokey Mountains, and wineries

Best Things About the Resort:
We liked the boating, child pool, swimming pool, spa, lake, games, and snack bar.

Resort Experience:
We had a great stay. The room was big. We went fishing out on our own private pier, drank coffee in the morning on the pier, and went to the playground directly across our unit. We went to see Rock City, Ruby Falls, and the train ride. It was all great. My little kids, ages 3, 4, and 6, all had a good time, even if it was just swimming. We went to historical rugby arena, took a tour, watched a documentary, and ate lunch. That was really interesting. We went to the general store in the area and just went out joy riding, enjoying the country and having a picnic.

Everything was just great, even the staff. The only problem I had was with the people next door. Since there are stairs and the bedrooms are upstairs, the neighbors heard the little one trotting up and down the stairs, and we don't have stairs at home, so they just loved it. Trying to keep three kids quiet that are used to getting up at 6:30am didn't sit well with the neighbor. Management was very understanding of the little children and just asked us to try to keep them quiet, until 8am anyway, as he knows how it is with little ones. Overall, it was great.

Best Things Nearby:
All major cities are at least 2 hours away. My husband enjoyed a few rounds of golf. There are several good courses in the area.

Best Things About the Resort:
The lake is the best thing about the resort.

Resort Experience:
The decks and dock did not seem to be kept up well as some of the wood was warped, dry, and very weathered. The unit was spacious but we were disappointed. It was very dark and gloomy. The unit had a terrible smoke smell that hit you as soon as you walked in. The staff was nice enough to try and get rid of the smell but without changing the curtains and shampooing the carpet it was hopeless. We had to asked them to change the bedspreads. They had not been changed from the last people, and they also held the smoke smell. The appliances were old but fuctional.

The swimming pool, and fitness center were great. We enjoyed the lake and fishing. The staff was friendly and helpful.

This is an older resort, but the accommodations were excellent. The units were set up with a sunken living room, raised kitchen and dining area, and sunken bedroom. All the rooms were quite large and well furnished. We had beautiful views from both the living room and bedroom.
