Best Things Nearby:
My friends that live there.

Best Things About the Resort:
First Impression. We did not camp here. They were not very friendly. Seemed to have nice pool.

Resort Experience:
We drove in to check out the campground. First impression, it seemed nice. Then it seemed a little bit too cramped - not really a lot of privacy. But not a big deal - we like meeting other people. But then I walked into the office to ask a few questions. The DON'T DO THIS and DON'T DO THAT signs are everywhere. I guess they learned that from the city of Cape May. Someone had really got happy with the markers making all these signs. I would have been afraid to breathe without getting kicked out of the campground. I asked where is the "Big" lake. The lady replied, didn't you see it when you drove in? Me, "Oh, I remember driving over a creek. Guess that was the lake?". Her, "Yes".

Big Timber Lake Family Camping Resort

I have to say, that I was a little leery of camping especially after being a timeshare owner and experiencing some of the great places we have visited.

To be safe, we chose to rent a rustic cabin at Big Timber Lake to make our first camping experience successful. The cabin was absolutely lovely -- be sure to take a look at the picture included.

Our cabin had two rooms (one with a queen bed and the other room had two bunk beds). The cabin cost $86 a night and we stayed at the campground for three nights during the holiday weekend. A one room cabin is also available for $76 a night . . . but for the $10 difference, it was worth it to have a larger cabin.

All in all our camping trip was lovely. We had three days of rain but the kids sat on the front porch of the cabin and did arts and crafts and we also took advantage of the great activities that were available.

During the holiday weekend, they had bingo, games, arts and crafts, a magic show, a ventriloquist, and bike parade.

Even though it was cold, the boys also went swimming in the heated pool. The outside temperature was 59, but the pool was 85 degrees.

Also on the campsite, was a beautiful lake for fishing. We went fishing on the one day that the sun came out but only caught one catfish among us. Finally, there is a great miniature golf course for your family to enjoy.

The boys truly loved our little camping trip to Cape May and I'm sure we will do it again. The only thing I did not like is that the bathroom was quite a walk from our cabin and you had to pay to use the showers ($.25 for 5 minutes, $.50 for ten, and so on).

The facilities and grounds were spotless and the cabin was dry, clean and comfortable.

All sites include a fire ring for campfires and the site requires all fires to be extinguished by midnight . . . so it was also very quiet and peaceful in the evenings.

For first time campers . . . we had a ball. And are already planning where we will go camping next Memorial Day weekend.
