Best Things Nearby:
Nice beachfront
Downtown shops within walking distance
Good restaurants

Best Things About the Resort:
Casual and friendly atmosphere
Excellent maintenance
Secluded pool area

Resort Experience:
We reserved this unit as we wanted to spend a week helping our daughter settle into an apartment in W. Palm Beach for the school year. We were more than well-satisfied with what the Dover House offered us and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. Our clean, nicely-furnished one-bedroom/one-bathroom unit was an end unit overlooking the garden/pool area. Because we had a second-floor unit, we could see the ocean when we stepped outside our front door. There was a nice area with two grills and several tables with chairs by the fountains in the middle of the resort.

Although the resort is fairly small, management's attention to detail and satisfaction of the visitors is outstanding. The resort's location is the best, as it is very close to good restaurants and to the many downtown shops (most upscale, but there are also malls to which one can drive.) We enjoyed driving the ocean route to places we visited and did not meet heavy traffic on it.

The beach is across the street from the resort, but it is a simple two-lane to cross, with a nice path through some lush greenery to the beach itself. There are many chaise lounges there to stretch out on. There is a pool house for changing and restrooms next to the pool area behind Dover House, and we enjoyed several days by the pool as well.

All in all, you can't go wrong if you're looking for a very pleasant place to stay. If you're hunting for an action-packed resort, this should probably not be your choice, but if your desire is a well-run, lovely haven by the Atlantic, this is a good pick!

Best Things Nearby:
The beach is right across the street. Downtown Delray is only a block or so away. Great location to get out and walk along A1A (the costal highway). Minutes from Palm Beach and Boca Raton. Arthur Matshall Loxahatchee Everglades Park is close and very worth the visit.

Best Things About the Resort:
The location is fantastic! What a great town. Nice courtyard area to eat and grill out.

Resort Experience:
I was shocked when I first got there as the photo in the guidebook looks SO much better than the actual resort. But I have come to expect a lower quality resort at the beach. This is an older property that looks more like a motel.

The room at first was a disappointment, but actually it was very functional. We ate most of our meals outside in the courtyard and drank our morning coffee in the chairs in front of our unit. The pool is located down behind the buildings, so you have no noise from the pool! The units were sparse with a sofa, chair and coffee table. There was a dishwasher in the unit, but we did not have a washer/dryer. The kitchen was a small galley-style kitchen.

Since you can walk to the beach and downtown Delray, you could leave your car parked for a few days. I was there with one other person and it was fine. I think you would feel crowded with older children. I would go back because of the location.

Best Things Nearby:
There is a big supermarket five minutes away from the resort and the beach is just across the road. Palm Beach is 30 minutes away and Miami is just an hour away.

Best Things About the Resort:
Dover House is an extremely quiet place in a wonderful location, well connected to all amenities. I relaxed on the beach and sitting at the patio outside my unit.

Resort Experience:
Dover House's apartments are basic-furnished, but there are all the necessary conforts to make your stay pleasant. The living room had a queen size sofa-bed and TV, while the kitchen was small, but complete with cooker, oven-grill, microwave, and dishwasher. The bathroom was very confortable and the bedroom had a king-size bed and another TV. One problem: my bedroom was just above the central air conditioning unit, which ran 24 hours a day and was a bit noisy during the night.

What I enjoyed most about the resort was the patio outside the unit, where I spent a lot of time sitting in the shade when I wasn't feeling like going to the beach. The resort also has a small swimming pool, which I didn't use.

The beach is across the street and you can sit in front of your room and see the beach from the upper floors.

Best Things About the Resort:
The class of folks staying there is usually very high. Not much noise, especially if you get a unit across the street from the main building.

Resort Experience:
Its right on A1A and across from the beach. So you can get up, go have breakfast at Bostons on the Beach, then walk to the beach. You can rent a cabana and chairs for $15 a day and relax on the beach like you're a movie star!

Dover House offers one bedroom units, with full kitchen. You are right across the street from the beach. There are three good restaurants within walking distance and lots of shopping.
