The very entrepreneurial, kind, and humorous Don Chencho Velasco has been running the Posada for over seven years. In addition to his resourcefulness and hard work, Don Chencho has had the help of his wife, fourteen children and his in-laws.
Don Chencho and his daughter Flor are an invaluable source of information about Oaxaca and its surroundings. One of the greatest treats about staying at Posada de Chencho is that they were incredibly helpful in suggesting ruins, markets, special shops, and museums to visit.
The food at Don Chencho''s is exquisite. The breakfast, which is included in the price, is abundant: traditional Mexican hot chocolate, coffee, fresh fruit, bread, tortillas, and various egg dishes. Lunch and dinner can be prepared if ordered in advance.
