Best Things Nearby:
Large grocery store less than a mile away. Also back in St. Petersburg outlet malls gallore. If you wanted to shop, shops we very plentiful. From souvenirs to outlets.

Best Things About the Resort:
Coral Reef was located directly on the ocean. Each unit had a deck with which to sit and see the ocean or look down and marvel at the pool.

The one bedroom units are small and I would recommend them for only a couple, even though they sleep four. However, the units are clean, and the decor has very Carribean style furniture (bamboo sofa and chair with tropical prints).

We'd go back for the pool; the kids loved it. It was beautiful. Rock formations set throughout the middle forming a waterfall effect, bridges you swim under; one section had seats that aligned the side and tiki huts hidden amongst the palms to sit in the shade. 4 hot tubs were secluded around the pool for some privacy. Very nice touch.

Also at night Bongos the restaurant/bar which sits ajacent to Coral Reef had bands. It was a nice extra to sit on the deck from your room and have a few cocktails and listen to the music. I very much enjoyed it.

Resort Experience:
Coral Reef, and St. Pete's Beach is a destination I would go back to. I was told that the Western side of Florida is a lot like the Carribean, and they are right. Warm ocean with the color of the Carribean, gentle breezes, warm temperatures year round, lush tropical flowers all aroud, palms blowing in the breeze. The resort is close enough to the amusement parks for day trips or nice enough to afford just walking right out your room and swimming in the great pool. Relax in one of the hot tubs, or sit at the ocean and let the sun and the ocean wash away your stress. Then finish it off by watching the beautiful sunsets. Great vacation.

Brown's Wharf Inn

If you are going to be staying in the mid-coast region of Maine, Boothbay Harbor is a great place to headquarter yourself. At Brown's Wharf, being located off the beaten path is actually a selling point. We stayed there during the annual Boothbay Harbor Fall Foliage Festival (this year's will be Oct. 9-10), and could not have been happier with our accomodations. Our room had a balcony that overlooked the harbor, and provided us with a quintessential autumn view of lobster boats, fall colors, and the proverbial white steepletop church. We chose a package deal, which included one dinner at the Brown's Wharf restaurant. Knowing that tonight's dinner was today's catch made our meal that much better; I could not pass up the fresh Maine lobster with drawn butter. The downtown area of Boothbay, with its antiques shops, art galleries, and harbor cruise tours, is about a 5-10 minute walk; much better than trying to get your car through all the pedestrians.
