Best Things Nearby:
Gondola to the top of Squaw Peak.

Best Things About the Resort:
Peaceful spot off the main Tahoe area traffic loop, but convenient to all local attractions.

Resort Experience:
Cozy accomodations with a very accomodating staff. Units are a little smaller than many, but the area is great and the Tahoe Basin is a great spot to visit.

Best Things Nearby:
Because we visited Olympic Village Inn in the spring we missed the snow/ski activities but it was too cold for the summer activities of swimming and hiking to be enjoyable with two small children. A trip to the nearby western lumber town of Truckee with its false-front 19th century buildings and shops was an enjoyable day's outing.

Squaw Valley has a cable car offers aerial views of Lake Tahoe and the 1960 Winter Olylmpic site. Biking on the resorts complimentary bikes is a great way for a family to spend a day.

Best Things About the Resort:
The Tyrolian style buildings are centered around the view of the mountains and ski lifts out your balcony windows. The 1 bedroom unit we had, though small, was beautifully decorated with quality furnishings.

They even included plush thick terry robes for the adults to use. This would be a great location during ski season.

Resort Experience:
The one word that comes to mind when I think of Olympic Village Inn is small. We were a family of 4 with 2 small children. Being an upstairs unit did not help with a tiny balcony that was stuccoed up high enough that even the adults had to walk out in the crisp air to see over it. The children couldn't see without standing on chairs.

The entry into this 1 bedroom unit was directly into the bedroom. It was small with no room to open suitcases without laying them on the bed. A beautiful freestanding wooden hang up closet with limited storage space was all there was for unpacking the suitcases. The iron bed and wing back chair were in keeping with the turn of the century pattern of wallpaper. There was no TV in this room.

A short hall from the bedroom led past a small bathroom, cramped for bathing children. There were heavy plush terry robes hanging on hooks which were a nice touch.

The hall/walkway led into a very tiny studio style partial kitchen and sitting area. While the cabinets were first class quality, there was not much room to move around.

The furniture consisted of a small table, cramped even for playing board games, and two chairs, a small sofa and coffee table. The room was full with four people in it.

The back wall of this room was the sliding glass doors leading onto the tiny balcony. Though the occupancy for this 1 bedroom place was listed as 4 people, we were very glad 2 of those 4 were tiny people.

The swimming pool and jacuzzi pool were open but it was too cold to stay in the pool for long and the children were not old enough to go in the jacuzzi. There wasn't much to do on site. We ventured off site for most of our eating and activities.

This timeshare would be well suited to 2 adults who ski.
