Best Things Nearby:
It's very close to everything.

Best Things About the Resort:
The personnel were extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel is very clean and cheerful.

Resort Experience:

The rooms are large and bathrooms very nice. The kitchen is fully equipped, although most visitors like myself would prefer to eat out. There is large supermarket not far away. Taxis to the middle of town cost about $2, and into the more modern section they cost about $1. The taxi drivers know the zones well and do not haggle. There is no custom of tipping the taxi drivers.

The hotel had arranged tours every day, and they were very good. For instance, one day we took a trip to the Atlas Mountains and a Berber Village, another day to the seashore. The tours were less expensive than the ones offered by the Atlas Hotel across the street. The only problem is that there is construction going on across the street and they begin work at 7am. They are putting in the Central Bank Building, and this will probably continue for more than a year. If you go on the tours, however, you are not in the room at the time of construction and will not notice. They quit work at about 4pm, I believe. I was there in October and wanted to swim, but the pool was unheated and too cold. I learned that this was the case for all the hotels' swimming pools at this time (even the Sheraton and Le Meridien).

Best Things Nearby:
French quarter amenities such as supermarket and internet cafe, many shops.

Best Things About the Resort:
It is luxurious, and the staff is friendly.

Resort Experience:
This is a tipping environment - you really need to leave tips for the cleaners (who tidy your room every day like in a hotel). Some hotel staff speak English, but most speak French and Arabic. The in-house restaurant is good but VERY expensive.

Emu Walk Serviced Apartments

The accomodations were decent, but overpriced. The Emu Walk did not have a pool in the actual complex. We went and used the pool next door. There are cheaper places to stay if you are looking for budget accomodations and much, much nicer ones (Sails of the Desert is amazing!). It''s difficult to feel that you got what you paid for anywhere on Yulara.
