Chicago is full of things to do, so you can never get bored with it. Even though this resort is outside of Chicago, it is nice to get out of the everyday hustle-and-bustle and relax at the resort.Best Things About the Resort:The resort offers everything you can think of. We took a few days to enjoy the amenities at the resort. They offer golf, horseback riding, boating at the on-site lake, a games room, and a pool. You name it, they had it. The rooms were very nice and well kept. We had a two-bedroom with two full baths. Each bedroom had its own private entrance to a bathroom. Resort Experience:Though the resort is out by itself with not much around, it doesn't take long to get to anywhere you would want to go. It gives you the best of both worlds. You can enjoy a nice relaxing vacation out in the country by just staying at the resort, or you can drive into the city and enjoy all of the excitement the city has to offer.
Once you get into the city, you can drive along Lakeshore Drive and enjoy the beautiful view of Lake Michigan. We went to the Navy Pier and enjoyed a boat cruise out on the lake.
If you decide to stay back at the resort, they offer a snack bar on site that has cheeseburgers, etc. so you can actually each a meal there and spend a full day at the resort without having to leave at all and still be entertained.
We stayed at this resort to go to a Beatles convention in Chicago. It worked out perfectly. We drove into downtown Chicago 2 days for the convention, then another 2 days to enjoy the sites. We spent the other 3 days enjoying the amenities at the resort. I would definitely recommend this resort.

Customer service (Amy) was very defensive, and she informed us that she had no control over how the units were built. If you decide to go, make sure to request a third floor unit, but just be aware that every sound you make is heard below.

The Fox River is close by where you can canoe. At the resort, there's a small lake where you can also canoe.
The city of Ottawa is about 10 miles south of the resort, and has much to offer. At the "Port of Ottawa" you can take a cruise on the Illinois River, June through September. It is an absolutely lovely 90 minutes!
You can get the Illinois-Michigan Canal trail in Ottawa. . .it's used for both hiking and biking -- and it goes for many, many miles across the state!
Hank's Farm Restaurant, near Ottawa, serves wonderful Italian-American cuisine. And oh what atmosphere there is here! The "Curious Goods" Gifts and Antiques store, adjacent to the restaurant, holds a lot of wonderful treasures!
Best Things About the Resort:Beautiful resort, new, modern! Very well maintained!
There's a wonderful gift shop, and a very welcoming "Welcome Center" for new arrivals at the resort.
Many, many activities are presented! Much to do in the wonderful outdoors here, including horseback riding.
The indoor and outdoor swimming pools are both very large, and are in very attractive settings. The two pools are not in the same areas of the resort.
The 18-hole golf course was beautifully manicured, and the minature golf course was well groomed, too! Very well kept!
Walking and biking are both good here too. You can walk way down by the Fox River and see a lot of nature! Nature abounds!
There is also an activities' building where there are games to play, and where you can grab a bite to eat. . .as well as sign up for various things.
There's a spacious park, too, where you can relax and gaze out at the lake. The same lake that you can canoe on!
Resort Experience:Our unit, on the first level of Building H, was very well-appointed and had everything we needed for our stay.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We needed the kitchen toaster to be replaced, and a BRAND NEW ONE was brought in just a few minutes!
We enjoyed the deck off the rear of the unit, which served as a place to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature right in our backyard!
The bedrooms were a little short on closet space, to be sure. That's the only complaint we have of the bedrooms. There was good drawer space. . .and the beds were very, very comfortable! King bed in master bedroom, and queen bed in the guest bedroom.
There was a great hot tub in the master bath, and there was a tub/shower in the bathroom by the guest bedroom.
It's a perfect place for a vacation in the midwestern United States! On top of that, it's not far from Chicago, where there are always a lot of "attractions" for the vacationer too! ! !
