If you want to see what the Caribbean was like back in the day, long before tourists flocked there encouraged by a surplus of cheap, convenient flights, Ruby's IS IT! Basic, basic, basic, but gathering so much charm because of its basic nature, Ruby's is an old fashioned wooden building built 10 paces from the Caribbean's gentle edge. Reasonably comfortably and very, very cool! If you want high rise luxury, swim up bars, and concierge service... go to Cancun - If you want the authentic Caribbean, try Ruby's. I've been out to Ambergris a number of times and have stayed at Ruby's. The last time I was at a much more modern and luxurious place down the beach and found myself gravitating to Ruby's every day for: breakfast, a spot to haul in out of the sun a sit for a while, and a sense of being at the center of the island, geographically AND spiritually - Ruby's IS Ambergris!

Clean and tidy but without frills. Most, but not all, of the rooms have a private shower so if privacy is important ASK when booking your room. GREAT cinnamon rolls every morning downstairs!
