Black Rock River Lodge is a very remote jungle lodge. You must have a car to reach the lodge and the dirt road is long, bumpy and a bit nerve-wracking.
One must go to the Black Rock Lodge not expecting a lot of activity and ready to relax.
The lodge offers several activities with which we had mixed success. Tubing down the river was offered and we tried but the manager did not explain to us where we were to get to the river so we spent a long, miserable hot afternoon tramping around.
We did do the horsebackriding to the cave which was a neat experience.
On a more grim note, safety should be considered. About 3 weeks after our trip, the lodge was attacked and the manager and another worker were killed. It is still unclear whether the killing was revenge against the manager or a robbery/killing.
