We were expecting a lot from this resort, based on the referral given by the RCI exchange agent, and were very pleased to find that it was even better than we hoped. The accommodations were very spacious for two adults and included two full bathrooms, a large bedroom with kingsized bed, a small dining area, and a large living room. The half high refrigerator was adequate for keeping sandwich makings, beverages, including milk, and ice cream novelties chilled. Without a stove or microwave, we ate our main meals either at the on-site restaurants or at places we came to during our travels.
On-site activities included swimming in any of the nine different pools, boating, fishing, kayaking, jet skiing or wind surfing in the man-made lagoon, playing tennis, gathering sea shells along the beach, gambling at the casino, and enjoying the live entertainment nightly.
Internet access for checking e-mail was available for a modest fee. Several small stores provided resort clothing, help with arranging tours, food, and souvenirs. Shuttle service to nearby Pampatar and Porlamar were reasonably priced.

Don't forgt to get the Rum. Rum is the national drink in Venezuela. Try the gold-medal winning Pampero Anniversario.
Best Things About the Resort:At Lagunamar can be found a beach, 9 swimming pools, numerous bars 5 restaurants or snack bars, a fresh-water 'lagoon', water sports, recreational and cultural activities, live (nightly) entertainment, and many other activities. Plus, the best way to enjoy all of this is to purchase the all-inclusive package (for a very minimal fee). The visitor can lay back and be pampered, or, they can be very active.
There are activities which can be enjoyed by all ages, including childrens activities and sports. There is even a well-furnished gym for weight lifting enthusiasts like me.
Oh, yes, there is the casino on grounds for those who enjoy spending time in such facilities.
Resort Experience:One arrives at the airport and takes a 20 minute ride in the taxi to Lagunamar. This complex is privately guarded. You will not be bothered by anyone who is not associated with the resort.
Upon arrival and check-in you will find yourself in a well-appointed room. Get ready for a buffet feast at the main restaurant. Or, make reservations to eat at the Italian or Mexican restaurants.
Stroll along the pathways, visit the casino, or whatever you might enjoy until 9:00. A live show is presented every evening... including a special activity for the children.
After the show you can be entertained at the disco, which is located in the North Tower. Stop by the bar and relaxyour evening away. Whatever you wish to do, there are otherrs who will join you.
The next morning brings on a wonderful buffet breakfast. Then off to the beach for swimming, tanning, horeshoes, beach volleyball, and other activities. Eat at the beach snack bar, or go to the main cafeteria for another feast. There are activities at the pool on an hourly basis.
People from all parts of the world come to stay at Lagunamar. I have met the most people here from Colombia, Italy, Great Britain, Venezuela, and Chile. People from the United States are only about 10% - 15% of those I have seen.
There are numerous other activities that time alone prohibits my including them. Don't forget to buy some pearls for the woman in your life. The island abounds in these precious stones.
